  • Minolta X700, 70-210 f4.0, Kodachrome 64
  • Here, another SD90MAC approaches the east portal of Albin Tunnel. The Yoder subdivision is a twisting, steep ex-branchline that was rebuilt to mainline standards a few years ago. Up until this diversion, it had been used for only westbound empties returning to the Power River Basin coal fields.

  • Two helper units were standard on every coal load rerouted on the Yoder sub. Albin Hill is a narrow band of steep hills about 5 miles north of Albin WY. As you can see, the area is quite scenic.

Union Pacific at Pierce, CO - 12/97

  • Minolta X700, 70-210 f4.0, Kodachrome 64
  • No, it's not fog, it's not snow nor rain, it's blowing dust! It's CTC Board Magazine's annual "A Day In North America" day, and in Northern Colorado the wind is gusting 60 - 80 mph creating one of the nastiest railfan days of my life!
