B&W Railroad Photographs
I don't shoot a lot of black and white photography, but every once in awhile the
urge strikes me. Here are a few examples.

Amtrak No. 5 at East Portal, CO - 10/98

- Amtrak No. 5 rounds the S curve right before
the tangent leading into the Moffat tunnel.

- My first 35mm camera, can't remember the model
number..A real piece of junk, though! Anyway, here's a blast from the past
as Frisco 2559 passes though Paola, KS.

ATSF 7440 at Keensburg, CO - 11/97
- Mamiya C220, 250mm f6.7, Kodak PlusX
- On the BNSF 'Brush' line that heads northeast
out of Denver. This is at a large cut just west
of town, one of the few scenic spots on the
eastern Colorado plains.

BNSF at Crest, CO - 11/97
- Mamiya C330, 250mm f6.7, Kodak PlusX
- Crest is an out-in-the-middle-of-nowhere siding
on the BNSF Brush line. Kind of sandy and desert
like, it totally lacks people, houses, and auto traffic.
That's why it's one of my favorite places to watch
trains! Pictured here is a Santa Fe GE and a
BNSF Pumpkin GP40. And yes, that is some of the
infamous 'white fungus' in the foreground...
